hi thr seem that every1 is interested is this freemason well i googled some freemason in cape town and i found this

How can I become a Mason?

To become a Freemason you must:

Be a man of at least 21 years of age
Be of good moral character
Have a personal belief in a Supreme Being (the definition of a Supreme Being is a personal matter for each individual)
Decide to become a Mason of "your own free will and accord" without expectation of any material gain or benefits
Be loyal to your country
Be dedicated to providing for your own family
Have a sincere determination to conduct yourself in a manner that will earn the respect and trust of others
Possess a desire to help others through community service and universal benevolence
To persue your interest in becoming a member follow these steps:

Talk with someone you know who is a Freemason, or send a message to info@lodgecapetown.co.za
If you do not know anyone who is a Mason, contact a Lodge in your neighbourhood
Masons do not solicit for members. You'll need to express your personal interest in joining Freemasonry
You may be invited to meet with the Lodge Committee or selected Members to discuss your application and to answer your questions.
Subject to you being considered eligible and properly motivated you will be asked to complete an application for membership and return it to your local Lodge Secretary
Your application will be presented to a Lodge Meeting and a secret ballot conducted in which Members vote on your suitability. You will be notified of the result and invited to attend a Lodge Meeting for your initiation into Membership.

Well ever since reading dan brown books it's sparked an interest for me in freemason,
and especially the last book i read: "the Lost Symbol" by dan brown, really got me researching
and finding out about the masons...

Still one of the best quotes i've come across is "Freemasonry is not a secret society but rather a society with secrets."

found out my gf uncle is one but still havnt met him :?

Hi Guys
I was browsing the Web, and came across this topic, and joined Hack.org.za, purely to help answer some of your questions. I myself am a Freemason, and am only 26 years of age. Freemasons, is not a secret society, it is a society of like minded gentlemen. At our Lodge, we often have "open days" to allow members of the public, to come and see what we do, and ask ANY questions, which we will gladly answer. YES, we have over time, gained "bad press", mainly due to the fact of everything be "secret". That is why, we are more open now with questions, to try a and fix our tarnished reputation. The other thing, is that anyone who believes in a Supreme Being, can join. As we say, TOBE1ASK1. The other thing, is that Freemasonry is not "Dying", in our small Lodge alone, we have 3 new candidates this year that are joining, and all are under the age of 30 years.
I would gladly answer any questions that are posted here about Freemasonry, and if I dont know the answers to some questions, its not because its "Secret", it will be because I wont know the answer. I hope that I will be able to lull some of your "fears and reservations" on this matter. :)

Please no hate speech, everyone is entitled to their own thoughts and beliefs. I am only here, to try and answer any questions that you may have.
Thank you for hearing my two cents worth.

Hey there
We do charity work, basically the same as Round Table etc.. the only difference is, is that we dont advertise the fact. We feel that doing Charity work (raising funds etc.) is a personal act of goodwill, and hence, not needing to advertise. millions of pounds are raised each year to go to charity, hospitals, childrens homes, education etc.. Personally I feel that we should advertise, that way, there would be less speculation about what we do.

Hi mufsta, thanks for joining and replying to this thread! It's very much appreciated. Note that the type of people you will encounter here will (should) not typically engage in hatespeech common on many other forums. Thanks again!
